Principal's Corner

Greetings from Asbury Park High School,

Greetings Asbury Park High School families, friends and guests! Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic school year! As I begin my third year of tenure as Principal of Asbury Park High, I have reflected on my first 2 years here and am reminded of the progressive changes that were made and all of the great things happening here at APHS. Scores continue to go up, enrollment is up 20%, and discipline infractions have been reduced to a fraction of what they were when I started in 2016. Incoming freshman will have the opportunity to choose a career academy, such as Law and Public Safety, Engineering, or Allied Health. In addition, we will welcome our 3rd cohort of Dream Academy students. These students will have the opportunity to take college courses and graduate with an associate’s degree from Brookdale Community College! How amazing is that! Also, APHS students will be offered the opportunity to receive college credits in Allied Health and College Promise Programs. This is all in addition to the many services, such as The SPOT, College and Career Readiness Institute and social and emotional well-being workshops, as well as many extracurricular activities to enhance their educational experience. I am looking forward to this new opportunity, and I pledge to you that the Asbury Park High School will provide your child with an innovative and transformational educational experience.

At Asbury Park High School, it is our mission to make every student feel welcomed, connected, and part of our APHS family. It is my belief that this will be an amazing school year! We will continue to utilize research-based best practices, and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels in order to set goals for growth and improvement. Through our partnerships with HMH, and ICLE, rich and meaningful professional developments will be continuous throughout the school year.

As educators, we have been given the opportunity to change the trajectory of our student's lives. Our focus is to educate the "whole child" and provide students with rigorous academics, career and college readiness, and social, and emotional support through the VNA School Based Youth Services Program (SPOT) and the Conscious Kyds, our Alternative Learning Lab, and various extracurricular activities. As a school community, I welcome your input and encourage your involvement. We look forward to working with you in a partnership to ensure that our children receive a “Next Level” education that will guarantee their success! Thank you for visiting our website!
