Dear Asbury Park High School Families & Greater Community,

Welcome to the New Year! At Asbury Park High School, we have celebrated a number of exciting success in our first semester of the 2022-2023 school year. Overall, I am hopeful for the positive changes to continue and expand as we move into the second half of the year. To our families and greater community, thank you for your continued support in finding new and innovative ways to support our students and staff. We appreciate your efforts and it makes all the difference in fostering a sense of belonging at Asbury Park High School for our 7th - 12th graders.

I am excited to have the opportunity to introduce to you our new Athletic Director, Mr. Troy Bowers. He joins our Physical Education and Athletics community at a particularly exciting time following the many success that the Blue Bishops had in the fall athletic season. We were proud to see multiple programs progress to playoffs and state titles both at the high school and middle school levels. In the winter season, we are seeing great growth in our co-ed wrestling programs at both levels as well as our cheerleading programs. It is foundational that we continue our community-wide efforts to engage our students in extracurricular activities that foster their interpersonal skills and talents outside of the classroom.

As a student support team, our school counselors, Child Study Team, and school social worker are working hard to ensure that our 12th grade students are on track for graduation. Later this month, we will be holding graduation and post-secondary planning meetings with all students and their stakeholders. At the end of the first semester, I am proud to be starting the Alternative Pathways to Graduation program as an alternative educational program based right here at APHS to help support our students who are in need of additional academic or social-emotional supports.

It takes a village to educate our children and I am proud to be a part of the Asbury Park community working together to help our children and families realize their dreams.

Yours in education,

Ms. Bridget O'Neill
