September 2023

Dear Asbury Park High School's Blue Bishop Community,

We have had a great start to the school year at Asbury Park High School and are excited to see our students and staff return to the building after a restful summer.

We are excited to have welcomed 15 new staff members to APHS, including 8 staff members who will be new to our district. We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Davis who will be founding our Cosmetology CTE program, Mrs. Heasley who will be a visual arts teacher with experience in painting, drawing, and ceramics, Mr. Correa who brings experience to our PE/Health department both as a teacher & coach, Ms. Crapser & Ms. Coppola who will be working closely with students in our school counseling office, Ms. Quinn will be joining as our new LDT-C and supporting students on our Child Study Team, Mr. Guerra who will be serving as a bilingual para who is also pursuing his certification to be a Spanish teacher, and Ms. Wilson who is a recent college graduate coming in to support our Dream Academy program. Ms. Sonia Barnes has moved into the role of bilingual office aide for our school and will be a great resource to our Spanish-speaking families.

As students and families now know, our building is opening at 7:55am this school year with Block 1 starting at 8:10am. Breakfast and lunch will be served daily including on half-days and delayed opening days. Our implementation of a School-Wide Lunch Period has gone wonderfully with students having a 50 minute period to visit with friends or teacher, go to the gym for some competitive play, or just relax and enjoy their meal in the cafeteria. The Sodexo Snack Bar is open and ready for business during this time and as always, we are proud to offer free-lunch to all APHS students.

A friendly reminder that we do require students to be in dress code for this year. All students received a black dri-tech APHS polo shirt that can be work with black bottoms. Additionally, students may wear APHS Spirit Wear in place of their school-issued shirt. Items are available for purchase and signs are posted around the school.

Yours in education,

Principal ONeill
